Pakistani state and its security organizations are saying that they are fighting this war on terror. But the fact is that all of its components including army, police and intelligence agencies are ill-equipped in terms of material support, as well as physical and tactical training and know-how.

A typical example is the thinking that if you put lot of guards around some high value target then you can probably prevent a terrorist attack. The result of this misconception is that suicide bombers always attack a crowd of security men usually killing dozens of security personnel.

Basically, to ensure minimum damage to police personal there should never be a crowd of them standing at one single point. Rather there should be multilayered security which is strategically placed to prevent suicide bombers or bombay style attack. These people should be able to absorb an initial suicide attack and fight back against trained/organized militant attack.

Also sniffer dogs and electronic gates should be deployed in larger numbers. Concrete slabs and blast absorbing walls should be placed around sensitive buildings.

If Americans are willing and eager to provide us technology to monitor electronic communications, to block signals such as fm radio and other kind of communications and to monitor areas 24 hours through air survillance (Drones) only then we can consider being partners in this so called war on terror. In any case, we should seek political route to minimize damage to Pakistan in this war rather than being partners to self destruction.
